Weird Times: Getting a Massage During a Pandemic

It’s been so nice to be back at work with you at CLINIC. I’ve been working Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-9 for a few weeks now and the pace is picking up once again. Thank you for booking again after such a long COVIDhiatus!  

Be organized and wear a mask 

When you arrive at CLINIC, make sure you arrive on time. In the past, it was fine for folks to drink tea and meander before or after their appointment. However, because of COVID and our efforts to reduce the number of people within CLINIC at any given time, no one is allowed to wait in the waiting area. Please arrive at your scheduled appointment time. Straight away, I will take your temperature and you will wash your hands in the bathroom (also a great time to use the bathroom, anyway). From there, we’ll head to the room where we’ll have a brief check-in to see how you're feeling and establish any new goals for the session. Northampton has an indoor mask mandate currently so we’ll both be masked the entire time, in all areas of CLINIC.  

Think ahead!

I encourage you to pre-pay for your session or buy a package of 4 or 6 massages (for a discounted price) that will expedite the check-out process for us both. I also encourage you to schedule your appointments online for this same reason. Some folks even schedule themselves months ahead which is such a sweet and loving act to do for yourself. We all need positive things to look forward to, now more than ever! Finally, if in the few days before your scheduled appointment you have some important massage-related information for me, please email me at hello@shawnastern.com at least a day in advance. Doing so will help get you on the table faster for your session since I’ll already have had time to process and possibly research anything that needs extra prep.

What can we do?

We all must work together to help keep our community safe and healthy. Not only are some of my clients over the age of 60 and/or immunocompromised, but my youngest child is as well. If you feel ill at all, even a case of the sniffles, please cancel. If anyone in your home is sick, please cancel. You will not be charged for the session if you are diagnosed with Covid-19 or cancel because of suspected Covid-19 symptoms or exposure.  

If I think I’ve been exposed, I will cancel all appointments and self-isolate until I can prove through negative testing that I’m healthy and not a risk to the community. 

If you test positive for Covid, please contact me as soon as possible so I can contact my other clients so we all can self-isolate and get tested.  

Please do not schedule a massage if you’re participating in higher-risk choices like attending indoor, unmasked gatherings or attending large events. I need to keep my clients safe and you need to keep me safe. We’re on the same team!
